Terms of service and privacy policy

This End-User License Agreement (EULA) is a legal agreement between you and Associazione StoryVR.

This EULA agreement governs your acquisition and use of our StoryVR software (“Software”) directly from Associazione StoryVR or indirectly through an Associazione StoryVR authorized reseller or distributor (a “Distributor”).

Please read this EULA agreement carefully before completing the installation process and using the StoryVR software. It provides a license to use the StoryVR software and contains warranty information and liability disclaimers.

If you register for a free trial of the StoryVR software, this EULA agreement will also govern that trial. By clicking “accept” or installing and/or using the StoryVR software, you are confirming your acceptance of the Software and agreeing to become bound by the terms of this EULA agreement.

If you are entering into this EULA agreement on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind such entity and its affiliates to these terms and conditions. If you do not have such authority or if you do not agree with the terms and conditions of this EULA agreement, do not install or use the Software, and you must not accept this EULA agreement.

This EULA agreement shall apply only to the Software supplied by Associazione StoryVR herewith regardless of whether other software is referred to or described herein. The terms also apply to any Associazione StoryVR updates, supplements, Internet-based services, and support services for the Software, unless other terms accompany those items on delivery. If so, those terms apply.

License Grant

Associazione StoryVR hereby grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the Software on your devices in accordance with the terms of this EULA agreement.

You are permitted to load the Software on devices (for example a PC, laptop, mobile or tablet) under your control. You are responsible for ensuring your device meets the minimum requirements of the StoryVR software.

You are permitted to give access to the Software to other people via devices under your control, under your responsibility that they will comply to the terms of this agreement.

You are permitted to upload your content or third-party content to the Software following the procedure that Associazione StoryVR will illustrate to you.

You are not permitted to:

  • Edit, alter, modify, adapt, translate or otherwise change the whole or any part of the Software nor permit the whole or any part of the Software to be combined with or become incorporated in any other software, nor decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the Software or attempt to do any such things
  • Reproduce, copy, distribute, resell or otherwise use the Software for any commercial purpose
  • Use the Software in any way which breaches any applicable local, national or international law
  • Use the Software for any purpose that Associazione StoryVR considers is a breach of this EULA agreement

Intellectual Property and Ownership

Associazione StoryVR shall at all times retain ownership of the Software as originally downloaded by you and all subsequent downloads of the Software by you. The Software (and the copyright, and other intellectual property rights of whatever nature in the Software, including any modifications made thereto) are and shall remain the property of Associazione StoryVR.

Associazione StoryVR reserves the right to grant licences to use the Software to third parties.

Data management and Privacy

To use the Software you are requested to create an Oculus account and thereby agree to adhere to Oculus’s terms of use, which can be consulted on their website. Associazione StoryVR engages in research and collaborate with others to improve its Software and Services. One way in which it does it is by analysing the data on how people use the Software. Associazione StoryVR will process personal data under Article 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679, also known as GDPR.

Associazione StoryVR will process all data by following the principles of fairness, lawfulness, transparency and the protection of privacy and users’ rights. Data processing may occur manually or electronically or with the use of IT or automated devices. It may consist of any operation carried out with or without the use of automated processes, including the collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, elaboration, selection, blocking, adaptation, modification, extraction, consultation, use, communication via transmission, diffusion or any other means of making available, comparison, interconnection, limitation, cancellation or destruction of said data.

Who is the Data Controller?

The Data Controller – i.e. the body that determines how and why your data is processed – is Associazione StoryVR, located in via Olona 17, Gallarate 21013, Italy, represented by its legal representative, Federico Pianzola (hereinafter the “Controller”). You can contact the Controller by sending an email to info@storyvr.org. 

Why are your data processed? 

Associazione StoryVR processes your personal data in order to improve its Software and Services. More specifically, Associazione StoryVR will process your data to: 

  • monitor what content is being uploaded to the Software;
  • analyze how and for how long you utilize the Software;
  • publish research based on the analyzed data.

Who can we communicate your data to?

Only personnel belonging to Associazione StoryVR and authorised by the Data Controller may process your data, in accordance with their functions and skills.

Moreover, the Data Controller can communicate your personal data to the following external third-party subjects, because their activities are essential to the achievement of the aforementioned purposes, including as regards functions attributed to them by law:

  • European Commission;
  • ministries;
  • public and private research institutions;
  • private legal entities.

Is it compulsory for you to provide us with your data? 

Yes, because if you fail to do so, Associazione StoryVR will be unable to complete the required activities and deal with requests. However, no formal declaration of consent for data processing is required. 

If you give access to the Software to other persons, you are responsible for collecting their consent for data processing. For children (under 16 years of age), who are unable to express their consent, you are responsible to obtain the consent from the parent/s or the person with parental/legal responsibility.

How long will we store your data for?

Personal data in the database of the Data Controller is stored for an unlimited period of time. If your personal data is contained in analogue documents and/or digital products or products owned by the Data Controller, this data is subject to a legal storage time limit of 5 years.

What are your rights and how can you exercise them? 

You have the right to:

  • access your data;
  • obtain the correction or cancellation of data or the limitation of data processing;
  • request data portability if data is in digital form;
  • oppose data processing;
  • make a complaint to the supervisory authorities.

You can exercise your rights by contacting the Data Controller, who must respond to your within 30 days from the date they receive your request (this period can be extended to 90 days if the request is particularly complex).

If you believe that your data processing violates relevant regulations, or if the response to a request in which you have exercised one or more of the rights set out in Articles 15-22 of GDPR fails to arrive within the time limit indicated or is unsatisfactory, you can contact the supervisory authority or the personal personal data protection authority. 

Is your data safe? 

Your data is processed in a lawful, proper manner and we adopt appropriate security measures designed to prevent any unauthorised access, disclosure, modification or destruction of the data. 


This EULA agreement is effective from the date you first use the Software and shall continue until terminated. You may terminate it at any time upon written notice to Associazione StoryVR.

It will also terminate immediately if you fail to comply with any term of this EULA agreement. Upon such termination, the licenses granted by this EULA agreement will immediately terminate and you agree to stop all access and use of the Software. The provisions that by their nature continue and survive will survive any termination of this EULA agreement.

Governing Law

This EULA agreement, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with this EULA agreement, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy.
